This unit reframed money within the cost‑of‑living crisis as a social and emotional instrument, evolving a self‑initiated brief for my final project into a coherent UX system. Using research for/through design, mind mapping, directed storytelling, co‑creation, and speed dating with parents, we surfaced insights on care, support networks, and the opportunity cost of starting a family. Iterative prototyping led to MemoryMint: a tactile pot and an interactive digital forest that visualize a growing pool of memories and funds, demonstrating how participatory methods and strategic communication can make a complex, multi‑component service legible, humane, and durable over time.
This unit focused on applying UX principles to an external brief in collaboration with Kinda Studio, exploring the theme of 'neuroaesthetics'. We explored a science-heavy subject through the lens of designers. Using iterative design and participatory methods, we investigated how a fragmented yet connected system can foster mindfulness and reshape an individual's emotional relationship with their everyday environment.
This unit focused on designing for real-world impact through a live brief in collaboration with Southwark Council, particularly Walworth Library. The project emphasized collaborative design processes, working in multidisciplinary teams, and prioritizing user engagement over polished final outcomes. Through iterative research and co-creation, we investigated how design can support community connection, storytelling, and public value.
